The four "Nobodies" found an unexpected surprise as they rode on the highway. During the drive, there was a sound coming from the back of the van. Shukaku leaned his head over the back of the seat. He let out a yelp. Everyone looked back, but Ryona, being the safe driver that he is, kept focused on the road. However, he did look in his rear view mirror.
"What's wrong," Ryona asked, with slight worry in his tone.
No sooner did he finish asking did a red Siberian Husky with bright brown eyes poke its head over the seat.
"Ph-Phoenix!?" Shukaku exclaimed. "What the heck are you doing in our stash tub?!"
"He must've slipped into the tub without us noticing before we hauled it out," said Diana. "How could you not notice that when you were the one who carried it out, Shukaku?"
"Umm…funny you ask," he finally muttered, turning red with embarrassment. "I levitated it into the van with my sand."
"Lazy bum," said Kyūbi with a little laugh. "Perhaps that should teach you that when things must be done, they must be done normally."
"I don't a lecture from you right now, Mr. Superior of the In-Between," said Shukaku, giving a slight glare.
Kyūbi only gave a little laugh. "That really is not an insult to me; you forget that I'm Xemnas."
Shukaku couldn't come up with a clever comeback after that slip-up of words; he only continued to glare at Kyūbi.
"Well," said Diana to break the silence. "What are we to do, Ryona?"
Ryona thought it over quickly.
"Phoenix," Ryona said; Phoenix's ears perked up. "You want to come and Trick-or-Treat with us?" Phoenix jumped over the seats and sat between Ryona and Diana. He barked gleefully. "I'll take that as a 'Yes'," Ryona chuckled as he patted the young husky's head. They continued their drive down the road.
"Take a right ahead," Diana said after lifting her eyes from a map. "There's a rest point at the top of the bluff. We can walk to town from there; it's not that far."
"Hear that everyone?" Ryona announced, making sure everyone heard.
"Yeah; I heard," Shukaku said with an upset tone.
"Come on, that's not the Axel I know. Cheer up; where's the attitude? You just going to mope around, Shukaku?"
Shukaku paused for a bit, then finally looked up with a determined look.
"The name is 'Axel'," he said in a punk tone. "Got it memorized?"
"Now that's the Axel I know!" Ryona said. As they were driving up the bluff, Ryona noticed that Kyūbi never answered, having his eyes fixed on the cornfield on the other side of the road. "Kyūbi," Ryona said. His words were like a shock, making the kitsune demon snap out of his trance. "What's bothering you?"
"Nothing," Kyūbi said after a short pause.
Ryona shrugged and parked at the top of the bluff, and soon, the four Nobodies, plus one husky, were off into the streets, meeting other trick-or-treaters, and snagging candy from the houses up and down each street.

The moon and stars shone down brightly over the Halloween landscape. The four Nobodies and husky were strolling along the street, holding their full bags of candy. Three of the Nobodies were laughing at Kyūbi. While also holding a bag full of Halloween goods, he also held a bouquet of roses. When they visited the last house on the last street, they went up to the door with their usual "Trick-or-Treat". A young woman took a glance at the group of five, and particularly had her eye on the masqueraded kitsune demon. She gave the three other Nobodies their treats, and also gave Phoenix a treat to add to his own little bag of treats. She left for a moment to get something for Kyūbi. Shukaku took a glare at him, thinking he was going to get a special treat. When she returned, she had not candy, but a large bouquet of red and green. The others laughed as Kyūbi received the scented gift, and have kept laughing and joking about it ever since.
"Aw, c'mon Kyūbi; don't feel bad," said Shukaku while recovering from all the laughter. "I'm have a just-as-good lookin' physique as you, so I could've gotten the roses instead of you. What can you do about it? Ya' can't go through life without something like that happening." Shukaku then turned his attention to Ryona and Diana. "Speakin' of which, what did you two get?"
"I got a couple of chocolate bars and a little pocket change; about fifty cents," said Ryona.
"I got a pack of gum and about fifty cents," said Diana. "What about you, Axel?"
"I got a rock," he said; all of them stopped, looking wide-eyed and shocked. Shukaku started laughing at their reactions. "Gotcha'!"
"Very funny," said Kyūbi in a sarcastic manner.
"C'mon, Kube; you know that was funny. You're an occasional prankster yourself half the time; it's in your nature, so you know that was a good one. Anyway, I got some hard candy and some pocket change."
"Enjoy it while you can; you're not the one who has an admirer on your hands."
Everyone laughed at the kitsune's comment.
"How about we go back to the car and drop off our load," said Ryona; everyone nodded in agreement.
They made it back to the white mini-van and Ryona unlocked it. In the back of the van, their large "stash tub" was already half-full of Halloween goods, and they dumped their load, filling it just short of the brim.
"Well," said Ryona. "Sad to say that this Halloween is over, but at least we got a lot out of that."
"Yeah; I'll say," said Shukaku. "You better find a safe place to hide that candy, 'cause I can have a real sweet tooth."
"You're better off without the candy anyway," said Diana in a humorous voice.
Shukaku shot an agitated look at her.
"Was that supposed to be a joke; are you callin' me 'fat'!?"
"Of course not," she said, unable to hold in her laughter. She was never a good liar, for she would laugh over the reaction of how some people buy into the lies.
"Ya' might as well call me a 'stupid raccoon'! It's not my fault that I'm a tanuki n' that I naturally have some extra meat on my bones!!!"
Ryona laughed as the argument between his sister and his adopted brother pivoted out of control. Even the husky seemed to get in on the laughter, for he was rolling around on the ground. While the others were in a tight knit, comedic argument, Ryona stopped laughing when he noticed Kyūbi overlooking the cornfield on the other side of the road. Ryona walked over to the lone kitsune.
"Kyūbi, what's wrong?" he asked. "Why are you over here?" Kyūbi continued to stare out at the field; Ryona soon looked out at it. "It is something about that cornfield, isn't it?"
"So you've known all this time, haven't you?" asked Kyūbi amid a sudden silence as Diana, Shukaku, and Phoenix came up beside the two. "That field has been bothering me for some time now. I felt a sudden suspicion about it while we were on our way into town, but I never said anything about it. I thought it was just the chills of Halloween getting to me at first…but now, just looking at it, I have a feeling that something wicked is arising."
"Now that you mention it," said Shukaku. "I was gettin' some bad vibes about that field too. Strange how it didn't dawn on me until now."
"I'm sure we all thought our suspicions from our first glance at this field were just the spooks of Halloween," said Ryona.
"I may not have supernatural ability like you three," said Diana. "But I started to have a bad feeling about this field, too." Phoenix began to shake, then whimper as he stayed close to his master. "Oh, don't tell me..."
"Phoenix doesn't like it either," Shukaku added. "Do ya' think the Knights of Darkness are at it again, Ryona?"
"Highly doubtful," he responded. "Right now, I don't sense their presence, or anything similar to it. The Dark Souls and Anti-Souls can act independently at times. Right now, they have the perfect opportunity."
"You mean…"
"Yes. With everyone dressed up and masquerading on the streets, people will mistake the Dark and Anti-Souls as people in costume, leaving them as easy targets."
"Darn pests!" Shukaku roared. "Why do they always have to attack when it's peaceful?"
"I know, but it can't be helped," said Ryona. "It's our duty as Guardians, much more the reincarnated Guardian Seraphim, to protect the worlds and all their inhabitants from devastation."
"Ugh…" the tanuki groaned. "And I was startin' to enjoy this holiday."
"Phoenix, Diana, stay here," exclaimed Ryona, tossing his sister the keys to the van. "If anything or anyone dangerous comes around, get out of here as fast as you can."
"Okay, but please be careful," pleaded Diana as the three Guardians descended the bluff.
Part II of my Halloween story. As you already saw, "Xemnas" is already pushing some of "Axel's" buttons in the last part.

The ride into town was not part of the original story; that I added in when I decided to add Phoenix to my Battle of Fantasies storyline. The background story behind Kyūbi getting the flowers was also not part of the original story.

One thing I did forget to mention in the last part was that I originally intended Shukaku and Kyūbi to be Anthropomorphics resulting from the Guardian Seraphim Forms.

What's happening in the cornfield that's shaking the group up? Find out in the next part! ;p

All (c)'s from the last part apply throughout the rest of the story. Please respect that!

Part III: [link]

BTW, does anyone know how I can make a link to the next and previous part of a story besides the one above? It'd be much appreciated! ^^
